12CrNi3 is an alloy carburizing steel , which has higher hardenability than 12CrNi2A steel, so it can be used to make parts with a larger cross section than 12CrNi2A steel.
The steel has good comprehensive mechanical properties after quenching at low temperature or after high temperature tempering. The steel has good low temperature toughness, small notch sensitivity, and good cutting performance. When the hardness is HB260 ~ 320, the relative cutting workability is 60%. ~ 70 In addition, the steel has low hardness and good plasticity after annealing. Therefore, both the cutting method and the cold extrusion method can be used to make the mold. In order to improve the wear resistance of the mold cavity, after the mold is formed, carburizing treatment is required, and then quenching and low temperature tempering are performed to ensure that the mold surface has high hardness and high wear resistance and the core has good toughness. Steel is suitable for making large and medium plastic molds. However, the steel has a tendency to temper brittleness and a tendency to form white spots.

Heat treatment specifications
Quenching: 860 ° C for the first time, 780 ° C for the second time, oil cooling; 200 ° C for tempering, water cooling and air cooling.
