31CrMoV9 (1.8519) is one of the alloy structural steels, also called alloy steels, on the basis of high quality carbon structural steel, it is made by properly adding one or several alloy elements (the total content is not more than 5%). It has excellent machinability, excellent mirror processing and satisfactory luster, excellent etching machinability, excellent weldability, high hardness, wear resistance, high pressure resistance, and long die life.

In what applications is 31CrMoV9 used?

31CrMoV9 has excellent machinability and small strain, which is suitable for precision plastic mold.

Heat treatment

Ms: 360 ℃
AC1: 775 ℃

AC3: 835 ℃

Soft annealing

Softening annealing is performed at a temperature of 680 °C to 720 °C, and is slowly cooled.

Hardening
Quenched in water at temperatures between 840 °C and 870 °C.
Quenched in oil at temperatures between 850 °C and 880 °C.
Tempering is performed at a temperature of 540 °C to 680 °C, and cooling is performed in the air.

Material parameters

Delivery hardness: 245 ~ 255 HB.
Forging temperature: 1100 ℃ -850 ℃.
