34CrNiMo6 (1.6582) belongs to European Standard high strength alloy structural steel, executive standard: EN 10083-3-2006. Because of its excellent comprehensive mechanical properties, it is widely used in the manufacture of important parts such as camshaft and connecting rod of engine. It is a typical hard to process material with poor processability.

Classification
① Quenched and tempered structural steel
The carbon content of quenched and tempered structural steel is generally about 0.25% - 0.55%, which is often used to manufacture shafts, connecting rods and other structural parts bearing large loads.
② Case hardened structural steel
Case hardened structural steel is used to manufacture hard and wear-resistant surface parts and flexible core parts, such as gears and shafts. In order to make the core toughness of the part high, the carbon content in the steel should be low, generally 0.12% - 0.25%, and there should be a proper amount of alloying elements to ensure proper hardenability.
